What We Do
Our Story
It All Started….
With the idea that we can support developmentally disabled adults to live fuller lives in all aspects that every other person does. A Better Way of Living, Inc (ABWL) was founded in 2001. We supported two individuals at first, had 4 employees, and our office was out of our current Administrative Director’s home.
We incorporated in 2002 and formed our Board of Volunteer Directors. These volunteers have driven the vision of A Better Way since. Meeting every quarter!
We moved to an office with a day program in 2003. At this point we supported individuals in their homes and in the day program.
In the years since, ABWL has grown to a business that as of today has 141 employees serving 112 individuals. We started with one service and now offer seven direct support services and various trainings.
We center our services in support of the people we serve and our direct support employees.
Our Mission
To join with others to offer the necessary supports for people with developmental disabilities to realize their potential in all areas of life including work, education, leisure and relationships.
About Us
ABWL, a Non-Profit 501(C)(3), has been serving the Greater Albuquerque Community since 2001. Our mission is to join with others to offer the necessary supports for people with developmental disabilities to realize their potential in all areas of life including work, education, leisure and relationships. We also raise awareness of issues that people with developmental disabilities face. We provide outreach information for the community at large… look for events and fundraisers.
